Biocontrol - system for controlling bacterial infection with Pseudomonas aeruginosa using biological agents

Biocontrol has now developed a novel system for controlling bacterial infection with Pseudomonas aeruginosa using biological agents. This has proven efficacy and safety even where conventional antibiotics have failed.

This product has now completed human Phase I/IIa clinical trials, and treatment of patients is now under way, with multiple treatments completed.

The Chairman of Biocontrol is Dr. Caroline Williams. Dr. Williams is a corporate lawyer, Chairman of Hampshire Economic Partnership, Chairman of Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, former Chairman of the University of Portsmouth, and a former director of SEEDA. In addition she is Chairman of BC Capital Ltd. the financial advisers to the Company.

Professor Erik Änggård is a director and is also the Chairman of the Scientific Advisory Board of the company. Professor Änggård was Director General of the William Harvey Research Institute, London. He was also a founder of Vanguard Medica, and held the post of Director of Research & Development at Bristol-Myers.

Mrs Tuula Moilanen is the Chief Financial Officer and Company Secretary. She has worked in international banking, senior finance management internationally and published widely on financial evaluation of technologies. In the past ten years, she has been involved in incubating a number of high-technology companies, particularly in biotechnology and medical technologies.

Mr. David Scott is the Commercial Director of the company, with special responsibility for licensing. Mr Scott is the author of the best-selling report, "Scrip's Practical Guide to Pharmaceutical Licensing", and is a skilled negotiator with proven skills in deal making.

Mr. Nigel Evans is a non-executive director of the company, and acts as shareholder representative. Mr. Evans is an experienced commercial manager and is active elsewhere in the biotechnology sector as Chairman of Scancell Limited.

Dr. David Harper is the founder and Chief Scientific Officer of Biocontrol. Dr. Harper is an experienced project manager in commercial biomedical research. He is a virologist and medical author, and spent eight years on the faculty at St. Bartholomew's Hospital Medical College (Barts).

Dr. James Soothill developed the technologies on which the lead product of the company is based and is a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the company.
