Biocontrol Ltd are pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Mark Enright as the new Research Director for it’s UK and US operations, where he will be responsible for the company’s research activities in the area of bacteriophage therapeutics and diagnostics. 

 
Biocontrol annouce expansion.    19 April 2010 

Biocontrol are pleased to announce the establishment of its expanded office and laboratory facility at Colworth Science Park, Bedfordshire. The new facility will support the activities of an expanded development team and permit centralisation of its operations at the new site.

 
Biocontrol Present at TSIS in Munich, Germany.    11 March 2010 

After being invited by the organisers to present at the 8th World Congress on Trauma, Shock, Inflammation and Sepsis held in Munich, Germany from 9th-13th March, Dr. David Harper, the Chief Scientific Officer of Biocontrol, gave a presentation entitled "Bacteriophages as antibiotics".
The presentation was included in the session on "The Problem Of Antibiotic Resistance, Superbugs And The Need For New Drugs", and covered the history and application of bacteriophage therapeutics, including the potential for systemic treatments. Further invited presentations are planned for summer 2010.
 

 
Biocontrol Meet with EMEA     26 February 2010 

Biocontrol has now received initial advice from the Innovation Task Force of the European Medicines Agency to support the progression of its aerosolised therapeutic, BioPhage-PR, into clinical trials. BioPhage-PR is intended to target lung infections caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa, which are a major cause of sickness and death in cystic fibrosis patients and which cannot be resolved satisfactorily by current treatments.

 
Funding Support received from Cystic Fibrosis Foundation    01 December 2009 

Biocontrol is pleased to announce that it is receiving initial funding support from Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Therapeutics, Inc., a nonprofit affiliate of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The funding will support development of Biocontrol’s new bacteriophage therapeutic, BioPhage-PR. The company plans to evaluate the use of BioPhage-PR in aerosolised form for the treatment of lung infections caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa in cystic fibrosis patients.
